Delivery Driver Policies (05/15/2025)
Welcome to the Olyns Delivery Driver Team!
We’re glad you’re here (no, really). As part of our delivery force, you play a vital role in keeping the Olyns recycling network running smoothly - and keeping the world just a little less trashy. Please take a few minutes to review and understand the following guidelines. They’re here to help you succeed, stay safe, and avoid becoming a cautionary tale in our next training video.
Training & Expectations
Before you hit the road, make sure to check out the training materials. Trust us, it’ll make your life easier.
Be Cool to People
- Treat others how you want to be treated (unless you enjoy being yelled at by strangers).
- Show respect to store staff, Drop Zone workers, fellow drivers, Olyns team members, and of course, the recyclers who make all of this possible.
- Be polite, be professional, and try not to cause chaos wherever you go.
Driving & Parking Etiquette
- Drive safely. Think “cautious professional,” not “Fast & Furious audition tape.”
- Don’t park in no-parking or loading zones. It’s a great way to make enemies and get tickets.
Be Mindful When Servicing Cubes
When servicing an Olyns Cube, you are not just swapping bags. You’re a recycling ninja on a precision mission. Please:
- Report any issues using the Olyns app. That includes:
• Messy or dirty Cubes (trash, spilled materials, graffiti)
• Technical problems (crushers not crushing, screens blank, weird noises that sound like ghosts)
- Ensure everything is done correctly:
• Bin installed with handle facing out; glass bag on the right
• Toggles pulled tight so bags stay put
• Close and lock the Cube when done
• Complete all workflow steps before walking away
- Clean up around the Cube—yep, that’s part of the gig. If the mess is more of a “crime scene,” email support@olyns.com with:
• Cube location
• What happened
• What you did
• Time spent
• Photos (before and after)
• We’ll review and compensate you for the extra effort.
Customer Service Desk (CSD) Bags
This part is simple: no funny business.
No misconduct or attempts to game the system will be tolerated
- Pick up all bags you can safely transport.
- Bags without QR codes? They may be discarded or deposited into the Cube. Because of CalRecycle restriction, Olyns does not accept donations.
- Make sure QR sticker supplies at the desk are stocked.
- Check bag counts and report discrepancies using the Support icon in the Sherpa app.
- NEVER attach your own QR codes to bags or loose containers. Doing so will result immediate termination of delivery privileges.
- The CSD workflow is ONLY for the following cases:
• Large containers (1 gallon+)
• Tiny probiotic bottles
• When the Cube is down or full - a long line at the Cube does NOT warrant CSD dropoff
Drop Zone Etiquette & Bag Rules
- Deliver service and CSD bags to a Drop Zone within 24 hours.
- Bags must be:
• Properly tagged
• Checked in by staff during operating hours
• Placed in the correct yard area
• Untied (only use the toggles—don’t make it a puzzle)
- Remove all materials during service. No cherry-picking - if you take plastic, you take glass and aluminum too.
- You may only carry up to 12 bag sets at a time. No hoarding.
Need Help? Don’t Panic
If a service is giving you trouble (Cube acting haunted, yard staff missing, QR stickers turned into confetti):
• Tap the Support icon in the app
• Email: support@olyns.com
• Call: 866-472-6432, Option 6
One Last Thing
Not following these policies could lead to suspension of your driver privileges and may affect the system that assigns you services.
Translation: the algorithm might ghost you. So be smart, be tidy, and do the job like the champion you (probably) are.
Drop Zone Guidelines & Policies (05/15/2025)
We’re all in this together, so let’s keep things respectful and smooth for everyone using the Drop Zone. Here’s what you need to know:
Respect & Conduct
- Please treat everyone with kindness and professionalism - that includes Delivery Drivers, Drop Zone team members, haulers, nearby businesses and their patrons, and of course, Olyns staff.
- Inappropriate or disrespectful behavior isn’t tolerated and may lead to removal from the Olyns platform.
- Showing up on time matters - if shifts are missed or you arrive late regularly, it could lead to disciplinary steps, up to termination.
Bag Guidelines
- Every bag must have a QR code on its permanent tag to be eligible for payment.
- Please untie your bags before dropping them off.
- We operate a simple one-for-one swap: bring 3, leave with 3 (up to 12 sets per drop).
Access & Use
- Access to the Drop Zone is allowed only during posted hours and when staff is on-site.
- If the gate’s locked during hours, just get a staff member’s attention - we’re here to help.
- Only authorized material handling personnel should be in the facility and using the equipment.
- Please don’t enter the handling zone unless you’re a material handler.
- No sales pitches or solicitation of any kind, please.
Safety First
- The Drop Zone is under 24/7 monitoring for everyone’s safety. Tampering with cameras or locks will lead to immediate dismissal.
- Absolutely no drug or alcohol use at the Drop Zone.
- Closed-toe shoes, shirts, and pants are required for all workers on-site.
- If you see anything unsafe, let us know right away at yardops@olyns.com.
- Personal projects should be left at home - this space is for work only.
- If you see anything unsafe, let us know right away at yardops@olyns.com.
Check-In & Communication
- All materials must be checked in by Drop Zone staff - we’ll take care of the process.
- Got feedback or something on your mind? Reach out anytime at yardops@olyns.com - we’d love to hear from you.
Collection Policies and Guidelines
- Due to CalRecycle regulations, Olyns cannot accept container donations. This means that any CSD bag or single container without a customer created QR code that has initiated a service pickup, cannot be picked up. Please leave this at the location and the Store will dispose of it as per Regulations.
